‘Tailor-make skills training’

Government has urged learning institutions to tailor-make skills training towards private sector employment.
Labour and Social Security Minister Joyce  Nonde-Simukoko said skills have to focus on private sector employability to spur economic growth.
Ms   Nonde-Simukoko who was among 20 ministers who joined forces at Southern  African conference in Pretoria, South Africa recently said skill have to focus on private sector employability.
The   African regional ministerial conference sought to boost Jobs for Youth in Africa (JfYA) Strategy implementation.
This is contained in a statement issued in Lusaka by the African Development Bank (AfDB) at the weekend.
On February 27, 2017, 200 participants gathered in  Pretoria for the Southern African conference on JfYA.
The conference served as platform for dialogue and to lay out concrete actions for the creation of more quality jobs as well as the facilitation of an enabling environment for youth entrepreneurship.
The 20 ministers of Finance, Labour, ministers in charge of youth employment and other top government officials expressed their strong support for JfYA implementation.
This endorsement was complemented by firm interest from the private sector, industry associations and chambers of commerce, development partners, civil society organisations (CSOs) and youth groups and from young entrepreneurs from the Southern African region.
To collaborate with AfDB  and to leverage on each institution’s respective strengths, assets and networks to spur youth employment and entrepreneurship.
