Monitor Govt policies independently, PMRC told

Commerce Trade and Industry Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe has called on the Policy Monitoring and Research Centre PMRC to independently monitor Government’s party policies.
Ms Mwanakatwe  said this during an introductory presentation of PMRC presentation in Lusaka yesterday.
She said  monitoring and evaluating of government  would improve many sectors that government operate.
Ms Mwanakatwe urged PMRC to work independently and be objective towards it’s monitoring policies.
She said it was important to encourage and facilitate debate  on social  and economic  policy issues.
Ms Mwanakatwe  said monitoring and evaluation of programmes would support government  machinery  in recommending  policy and procedures  to ensure effective delivery  of national agenda.
She said research and monitoring would provide public understanding and improve policy analysis.
PMRC executive  director Bernadette Deka said  PMRC provided quality data relevant  for stakeholder  in areas  of social and economic development.
She said she was happy with the patriotic front (PF)  Government which enabled her organisation to do research and evaluation freely.
And deputy tourism and hospitality minister of Zimbabwe Anastasia Ndlovu said it was important for Government to support monitoring organisations
