SUB Chief Ntenke of Mukanta Chiefdom has been left homeless after his palace was burnt to ashes by his eight-year-old grandson in Kawambwa District.
Luapula Province police chief Hudson Namachila explained that Lawrence Mwansa who was playing with fire could be the one who in the process burnt a grass thatched bathroom, fire that spread to the palace.
Mr Namachila narrated that a match box was found on the table and the boy was said to be mentally ill.
“It was around 11hours when the palace caught fire leaving the chief and his wife homeless,” he  said.
Mr Namachila said the value of property burnt has not yet been ascertained.
He said the chief is now living with his son who lives within Kawambwa.
