FOUR people have been burnt to death in two separate incidents with one involving a mother and her three-month-old baby.
The mother and her baby were consumed in a fire believed to have been ignited when a drum containing petrol caught fire.
The woman, Priscilla Mweemba, 26, and her baby, Misheck Michelo, died in a shop in Namwala, which left another victim, Kamoti Habombe, 32, nursing burns at Namwala District Hospital.
Southern Province Police Commissioner Bonny Kapeso said the trio was in the shop when it caught fire on Saturday evening in Chief Muchila’s area.
The charred bodies are in the Namwala District Hospital mortuary.
The other fire incident

Western Province, where two girls aged three and four, were burnt to death in a kitchen, leaving three others with serious burns.
Provincial Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka confirmed the development, which occurred recently at Kapamba  Mukelangombe Viillage.
Mr Daka identified the deceased girls as Chisengo Kaumba and Mercy Shimishi.
Others were Thoka Kaumba, seven, Chinyama Kaumba, five, and Loveness Shimishi, eight, who were being treated at Chavuma Mission Hospital.
Also in Chavuma, a 71-year-old man has been hacked to death by unknown attackers, while in another incident, a 19-year-old man of Mushindano was found dead with deep head injuries.
Mr Daka said the elderly man, Kambanji Mutaipi, was killed around 21:30 hours at Chimbila Viillage at the weekend.
The victim had deep cuts on his neck and the head, in a matter police are still investigating, but believe an ax was used in the act.
In the murder of the teenager, Mr Daka said the body was found near Kamisanga stream, and identified the victim as Pephias Kasongo.
