THE Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) has appealed to President Edgar Lungu to remain focused on steering development in the country and not to succumb to criticism from people.
ZRP president Wright Musoma said it was unfortunate that United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema and former chief Government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili reported negatively about good people.
Mr Musoma said detractors wanted President Lungu to lose focus so that they could take advantage.
He said at a Press briefing in Lusaka yesterday that the President should not succumb to the cartel’s tricks.
“Our passionate appeal as ZRP to President Lungu is for him to remain focused, resolute and never pay attention to the detractors who want to derail his programme and development agenda for Zambia,” Mr Musoma said.
He said what the cartel wanted was to see President Lungu fail to govern.
Mr Musoma said President Lungu’s detractors wanted him to fail, for them to gain political mileage ahead of the 2021 general elections and accuse the Head of State of failing the Zambians.
He said Zambia would not have reached this level of development if previous presidents had not been travelling.
Mr Musoma said any president needed to travel abroad to help attract investment.
