ABOUT eight houses and two church buildings in Mansa District have collapse following heavy downpours that were experienced yesterday.
The incident happened around 14:00 hours at Ela Tomu Village of Chief Chisunka’s area.
The church buildings belong to the Anglican Church and CMML Church in the same village.
Anglican Church Elder Dickson Kaunda said he was saddened by what had happened as eight families had been left homeless in the village.
“We experienced heavy rain yesterday that left eight families homeless when their houses collapsed,” Mr Kunda said.
He said members of the two churches had no where to worship and that the buildings were completely damaged.
Mr Kaunda appealed to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit to come to the aid of Ela Tomu residents whose number had before the rain increased.
He said the families had no where to ran to and that all they needed was shelters on top their heads.
Mr Kunda, however, said he was happy that no life was lost during the incident.
