A PATRIOTIC Front (PF) youth in Choma, Southern Province, is constructing a modern community market at Mochipapa Research Institute and has already bought more than 30 roofing sheets for the structure.
The market, located in Sikalongo ward about 10 kilometers from Choma, would benefit more than 150 local marketeers and was being constructed at a cost of about K20, 000.
Joel Kamoko, who is PF Choma Central Constituency secretary, was concerned with the current derelict grass-thatched makeshift stalls the markeeters were using to sale their merchandise.
Mr Kamoko said in an interview at the weekend that, with support from other youth party members, he decided to construct a modern structure in line with the ruling party’s manifesto to empower people.
“This is my own idea I thought could somehow help these local markeeters to be selling their merchandise in a conducive environment and I am happy the project has commenced,” he said.
