PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has awarded two young Proflight Zambia commercial pilots Kalenga Kamwendo, 23, and 21-year-old Besa Mumba in recognition of their outstanding achievements as pilots.
President Lungu presented the two pilots with gold souvenirs while a certificate was awarded to Audrey Nkoshi from the Ministry of Labour and Social Security for being the most hard working employee during the Labour Day celebrations in Lusaka yesterday.
Kalenga said in an interview shortly after being awarded that he was humbled and grateful for being recognised and awarded by President Lungu.
“I am very privileged to have received this award. It’s outstanding to think that the President would consider giving me a presidential award and at this young age. I guess it’s also a culmination of a lot of things going on behind the scenes that people don’t necessarily see,” he said.
Besa said in a separate interview that she was extremely excited and humbled to have been recognised and that it was an amazing feeling to have received the award from the Head of State, an indication that her hard work and consistency was paying off.
Labour Minister Joyce Nonde-Simukoko also went on to present awards in monetary and material form to various individuals from different companies for the contributions they made to the organisations they represented.
