Govt suspends Black Mountain ops

THE Government has suspended small-scale miners from operating at the slag dump site in Kitwe commonly known as the ‘Black Mountain’ because the youth rioted after they were told that their time was up.
The youth popularly known as ‘Jerabos” who scavenge for copper and cobalt concentrates have been given two hours to operate on a daily basis after which those who use machinery take over.
But yesterday after being told that their time was up, the youth ran amok disrupting operations and stoning motor vehicles.
