ON Saturday night last week, the heavenly doors opened up as revelers turned up to offer support to multi-talented African gospel songbird-cum TV host Esther Chungu ,who unveiled her latest album titled ‘Umwala’ at Lusaka’s Music Club.
Umwala is a 140-track album that is filled with praise and worship songs.
With the spirit of Easter in the air,the large audience at Music Club which is located at East Park Mall knew what was in store for them.
Backed by her fellow gospel singer and husband Pompi whose real names are Chaka Nyathando and a number of local acts such as Abel Chungu,Ephraim and others, Esther managed to offload track after track from her new project.
Among the songs that she offloaded during the event included Asumbule, Amapalo, Ubutunse, Fendela, Tondolo and Success.
Songs such as Victory, Bow Down, Nga Nga Nga, Katebebe, Chibebebe and Maganizo are the other tracks that complete the album.
One of the defining moments of the album launch was when female gospel singer Chileshe Bwalya took off her heels so that she could easily offload the music thereby, changing the atmosphere in the Music Club to a new dimension.
Umwala is Esther’s third studio album.
She thanked Remmon events for taking up the challenge to be the event managers in partnership with Bridging Gap Solutions, Trade Kings, Phoenix and ABSA, for contributing to the successful launch of her project.
Esther also thanked her fellow artists, producers, instrumentalists, song writers and her husband (Pompi) whom she said has been her number one support system behind Umwala.
She has dedicated the new project to the women and mothers whom she said deserve a crown of glory for serving and loving God in their unique gifts.
Some of the artists who have featured on Esther’s new album include her husband Pompi, Magg 44,Paul Kachala and ChilesheBwalya.
