VICE-PRESIDENT W.K Mutale-Nalumango has informed Parliament that the delimitation of constituencies can only
be undertaken through an amendment to the Republican Constitution.
Ms Mutale-Nalumango said Article 68(2) of the Constitution provided that there be 156 elected Members of Parliament (MP), through the first past the post simple majority.
Article 58 (2) of the Constitution dictated that the number of seats in the House be equal to the number of elected members,
while Article 58 (4) (5) and 229 (2G) mandated the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to undertake the delimitation
of constituencies and determine the names and boundaries.
