By MOSES CHIMFWEMBE –
CHAMPIONS Lunga Bullets tomorrow take on Ndola Nets in a match that will see the Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) northern league leaders itch closer to retaining the title.
With a win almost assuring Lunga of winning the title for a second year running, the story in the southern zone is different as Napsa Hurricanes need a win to consolidate their top slot.
Ndola Nets v Lunga
Lunga take to the Copperbelt University (CBU) courts in Kitwe aiming to also maintain their dominance that has seen them maintain their unbeaten record in nine games while claiming maximum points and are favourites to emerge victorious going into this encounter.
With the title in sight and two points clear of second placed YMCA Stringers, who are on 16 points and face CBU Comets, the Nets pose little threat to Lunga’s title prospects but handing leaders their first defeat of the season will be a milestone for the Ndola outfit that is fourth on the table having collected 12 points.
Queens v Woosters
CEC Queens face a stern test against a tricky Lunga Woosters side in a ‘Winner takes it all’ encounter in the Feminine league.
Queens are currently top on 12 points, one better than their opponents and a win will see them open up a two-point lead while they risk dropping into second place if they lose owing to Woosters’ superior goal difference.
Full Fixtures: Spiders v Don Bosco, Robins v Saints, Trotters v Magnets, Comets v YMCA, Blazers v MEF, Tigers v Cardinal, Queens v Woosters, Nets v Lunga.
Looters v Napsa
Hurricanes faces an uphill battle to outdo a determined LCC Looters when the sides lock horn in the Week 15 match at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC).
Napsa lead the log on 24 points after recording vital wins so far over reigning champions Matero Magic and Unza Pacers, will go into this game knowing that only a win will prolong their stay at the top as Matero Magic, who are just a point behind and have played two games less, are facing Junior Looters tomorrow.
