FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) treasurer Kelvin Mutafu says the Shepolopolo are geared for tomorrow’s opening match against Namibia in the TN Mobile 9th Africa Women Championship.
The Shepolopolo arrived in Windhoek on Wednesday night ahead of their Group A opener against Namibia with Mutafu, who is the team delegation leader, expressing happiness with the reception accorded to the team.
Zambia kicks off her campaign in a 17:00 hours kick off at the Sam Nujoma Stadium and will face Nigeria at the same venue on Wednesday before wrapping with the group matches against Ivory Coast on Friday at the Independence Stadium.
Mutafu said in an interview from Windhoek yesterday that the Shepolopolo, who are accommodated at Safari Hotel, are geared for the Brave Gladiators challenge.
“We were well received by our Namibian counterparts and we are happy with the conditions here, the accommodation is fine and there is nothing for us to complain about.
The team is in high spirits and all the players are prepared and are for a positive result in the opening game,” Mutafu said.
The Shepolopolo yesterday held two training sessions at the Namibian Football Association (NFA) technical centre to shape up for the opener.
Mutafu said the Shepolopolo has a clean bill of health ahead of tomorrow’s game and that all the players were up for selection.
“We have no injury concerns so far and everyone is determined to kick off the competition on a positive note,” he said.
