By SANDRA MWILA –

BARN Motel has unveiled a K50,000 worth of sponsorship for the last round of the National Rally Championship that revs off tomorrow at Lusaka Motor Club.
When he presented a K50,000 cheque to Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) vice president Sam Ching’ambu, Barn Motel managing director, Mwamba Mulenga said his organisation had been supporting motor sport for seven years and remained committed to the growth of the sport.
“We have supported motor sport for the past seven years and Barn Motel will remain committed to the growth of the sport as part of our corporate responsibility,” Mulenga said.
He said Government alone could not manage to develop sport and that the onus was on the corporate world to assist.
“We are pledging K50,000 cash, accommodation, drinks and other services towards the last round of the national rally,”he said.
Ching’ambu thanked Barn Motel for their continued support and assured the hospitality firm that all the funds would be accounted for.
“Thank you for the good gesture we promise that every ngwee will be accounted for as we will host a successful last round of the national rally,” he said.
Meanwhile, Muna Singh Jnr has declared himself ready for a second place finish, stating that aiming for the first positions will be unrealistic.
Muna said it would be good to have a second place finish in the national rally behind his brother, Jassy, who is enjoying 13 points lead.
“It will be difficult to finish in first place because Jassy has 13 points lead. So even if I finish first, it will be unrealistic to catch up, second place will be an achievement for me because the closest I have got in the rally is sixth position,” Muna said.
He said he would consider competing in the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) next year if sponsorship will be found.
“If sponsorship will be available I will compete in the ARC,I may not be ripe yet but I can be groomed by my dad because he is the master,” he said.
The last race will have eight rounds at the Barn Motel which will be repeated covering a total distance 117.
