STRUGGLING Ndola United has embarked on a search for a new coach in a bid to earn promotion to the MTN-FAZ Premier League next season.
The FAZ Division One North side that spent the whole of this season in the bottom half of the table, survived relegation on the final day thanks to a 1-0 victory ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers.
The 2014 season saw four different coaches hired and fired at Ndola United owing to the side poor run of results that also saw the dissolution of the Latife Zhino led executive committee.
Club vice Secretary Mulonda Mbweteka said in an interview that the Ndola City Council (NCC) sponsored team needed a new and experienced coach to guide the team next season.
Mbweteka said interim coach Victor Juma, who saved the team from demotion, will revert to his original position as assistant coach.
“We are embarking on a search for a new coach because we don’t want to have a situation where we have four coached fired for poor performance like it was.
Coach Juma has done well because he was appointed with four games remaining and he made sure that he picked maximum points and if he had the necessary qualifications to be head, we would have engaged him at the helm but he will remain in an assistant capacity,” Mbweteka said.
Meanwhile, Mbweteka said the club was pondering on providing attractive incentives next season aimed at motivating the players.
He said Ndola United was one of the big clubs in the country’s football and that it needed to compete among the big teams.
“We will also embark on a recruitment drive of new players to beef up the current team in readiness for the 2015 season, we need to compete for the top flight as opposed to fighting relegation,” he said.
