Nkwazi win netball season closing tourney

NKWAZI at the weekend made up for their disappointing run in the league by winning the Midlands Netball Association (MINA) season closing tournament held at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) in Lusaka.
The police officers got K500 cash and a trophy for their feat with Lusaka City Council (LCC) finishing second to walk away with K300 and a trophy while Green Eagles got K200 and a trophy for their third place finish.
More accolades followed Eagles after their player Pauline Sanjinga was voted player-of-the-tournament that was played on a round robin system.
In the veterans’ event, Zesco won the women event to get K400 and a trophy with Tapeza finishing second while Nkwazi won the men’s event to get K300 with Zambia National Service (ZNS) Makeni finished second to get K200.
Meanwhile, this tournament came a week after Green Buffaloes bagged the MINA league title with 43 points to finish two clear of runner up Prisons Leopards.
Napsa finished third on 34 points as Nkwazi was tied on 29 points same as fifth placed Eagles but one better than LCC while Red Arrows ended their campaign with 20 points.
Paramilitary were eighth on 12 points followed by Kalingalinga Edusport on 12 points, Mazabuka Queens six points, Police College four points while UNZA finished 12th on the log without a single point.
