By KASONDE KASONDE –
GOVERNMENT has released about K25,000 for the construction of a mortuary at Masansa rural health Post.
Mkushi District Commissioner Luke Mwamba disclosed that the district has received money to complete the mortuary block.
The rural health post which is 62 kilometres away from Mkushi District Hospital had been ferrying dead bodies to the district hospital due to lack of a mortuary.
The construction of the mortuary block was started by the previous
Government using CDF but was later abandoned and had dilapidated over
the years.
“I am happy to inform the public that money has been released for the completion of a mortuary block at Masansa Rural Health Post which has been operating without one and that works have commenced,” Mr Mwamba said.
He said a local contractor had been engaged and so far a bore hole has been sunk with electricity already connected to the facility.
The contractor moved on site last week and immediately started the works which the District Commissioner described as impressive.
Mr Mwamba said the residents in the area were happy with the development as Government had delivered on its promise to ensure that people have universal access to proper health care.
