Scales of Justice - bigCHAOS reigned as three Lunyungandambo Barotse activists appeared before the Mongu High Court for sedition.
The other irate Barotse activists, who appeared before the same court last week, had stormed the court premises chanting Barotseland solidarity songs complaining that Western Province was their country.
Police in riot gear quickly stepped in to quell any possible skirmishes.
When order was restored, Afumba Mombotwa, 57,Pelekelo Likando 61 and Kalima Inambao, 53, appeared before High Court Judge Eddie Sikazwe charged with one count of a treason felony contrary to Section 57 (1)(a) of the Penal Code of Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
In his ruling,  Judge Sikazwe noted that the trio whilst in Sioma District of Western Province between March 1, 2012 and August 20, 2013 and while acting with other unknown persons with seditious intents and without lawful excuse plotted  to secede Western Province from the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, the three accused persons have since been transferred to Mwembeshi Prisons in Mumbwa in Central Province and will appear again in court on December 22, 2014 for mention.
The three were nabbed by police after a tip-off from the members of the public in Mwandi District of Western Province last Friday while convening a seceding meeting.
They were on the police wanted list for a long time.—ZANIS
