UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has reiterated his commitment to pay farmers that have not been paid if elected in the next month’s presidential elections.
Mr Hichilema said in a statement released yesterday that his government would get priorities right and lift the Zambian people out of poverty.
The UPND leader has been holding political rallies in Luapula Province ahead of the polls set for January 20, 2015.
Mr Hichilema who is accompanied by UPND national chairperson Mutale Nalumango and Lunte MMD Member of Parliament Felix Mutati, said he would also reduce the cost of fuel if elected.
Mr Hichilema said he was humbled to have been met by Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people and his counterpart Chief Mporokoso of the Bemba people as during his tour of the province.
He said he appreciated the counsel and blessings from the two traditional leaders.
Mr Hichilema and his entourage have held meetings and rallies in Chiengi, Nchelenge, Mwansabombwe, Kawambwa, and Mporokoso.
