PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Secretary General Davis Chama has said his party has received 23 applications for adoption for the Chawama Parliamentary by-election slated for April 14 this year.
Mr Chama, who expressed happiness at a number of applicants showing willingness to contest, said there were no notables in PF saying everyone was equal and stood the same chance of being adopted.
“We believe in democracy and we respect our constitution. On the adoption of a candidate, there we will follow it to the latter and please note that in PF there are no notables, we shall remain transparent,” he said.
The seat fell vacant after the incumbent Edgar Lungu was elected as Zambia’s sixth president.
Mr Chama, however, urged everyone in Chawama to turn up in numbers and ensure that they voted for the candidate who would be adopted after undergoing a thorough process.
He said the large number of applicants is testimony that the party was certain of a landslide victory in Chawama as many had faith in it.
The party was confident that it would easily scoop the seat due to the developmental projects undertaken by the ruling party.
