GOVERNMENT says the contractor working on Chilimbulu and Burma roads in Lusaka will resume operations next month.
The works on the two roads had stalled for two months raising concerns among stakeholders that the contractor had abandoned the project.

Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Minister, Yamfwa Mukanga said in an interview yesterday that the contractor working on the two roads had gone back to China for a holiday to observe that country’s national Day but was scheduled to return at the month end.
“These are projects which the PF Government is highly interested in and just before the end of next month you will see activity on full throttle, we are on course,” he said.
Mr Mukanga said although works on the roads and rail were on a slower pace, the Government of President Edgar Lungu was committed to complete all the projects initially initiated by late President Michael Sata.
Mr Mukanga has however urged motorist to stop using the uncompleted road on Chilimbulu dual carriage as that would jeopardise the quality of the road.
Some motorists, especially bus drivers have been driving on the incomplete lane and were currently using it to beat the morning traffic jam.
Construction material like the quarry dust which was also left along the road unsecured is also at a risk of being stolen.
