STRUGGLING FAZ Division One South side, City of Lusaka has sidelined two of its assistant coaches in a desperate bid to save the clubs’ dwindling fortunes.
Assistant coaches Tony Mukwasa and Charles Kafula have since been served with letters to stay away from the team until further notice following Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Zesco Malaiti Rangers.

Head coach Chris ‘Gaza’ Tembo, who was sent off in the weekend match played at Queensmead Stadium, remains in-charge of the club currently occupying third position from the bottom of the log.
Club secretary Sunday Chikange confirmed the development but refused to give further details on the matter.
“It is clear that things are not going well at the club and we have lost two games already this year. And yes, we have made some decisions and did what Nkana did.
We have just asked the two guys helping ‘Gaza’ (Chris Tembo) to stay away from the team but I must mention that we have not fired them, just staying away for a while,” Chikange said.
Among the reasons the City executive advanced for the decision was the weekend loss that came after the team enjoyed a half time 1-0 lead.
But after the break, Tembo was sent off for dissent with the assistant referee and needed the intervention of fans and other officials to convince the former Zanaco defender out of the field as he angrily resisted the send off.
After Tembo’s send off, City succumbed to three quick goals, with the executive committee saying the two assistants failed to see out the win as the loss left City third from the bottom with just two points from four matches.
Meanwhile, City is embroiled in a double edged administrative battle which started with a group of club members wanting to remove the sitting executive.
The group held their own annual general meeting where a parallel executive was elected but the matter was taken to court.
On the other hand, a sponsorship made in 2000 has turned sour with a Dutch company FMO now claiming huge sums of money with club members petitioning the Netherlands Government to intervene in the attempted transferring of shares from the community based club.
