LEADERS Power Dynamos’  perfect start to the season will be under the microscope today when they visit fellow 2015 title contenders and fourth placed Zanaco at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka in a rescheduled MTN/FAZ Super League Week One fixture.
Champions Zesco United will be eyeing to compound Green Buffaloes’ woes at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka and hope for a draw between Power and Zanaco to go top of the table.
Power have enjoyed a 100 per cent start to the season after picking up three straight league victories to enjoy top slot on nine points with two matches in hand while Zanaco are fourth on eight points with Zesco just a point behind but with two un-played games.
Zanaco v Power
Power is the only side with an unblemished record so far this season from five rounds of matches played after Zesco dropped points on Sunday following their scoreless away draw at Nkana.
The Tenant Chilumba coached is, however, tied on nine points with Konkola Blades and Green Eagles who are second and third respectively on goal difference and victory on today will send Power three points clear of the chasing pack.
However, Power have not won at Sunset Stadium since November 5, 2011 when they beat Zanaco 1-0 to lift the league title that season with a game to spare.
Since then, Power have left Sunset with two successive losses in the last two seasons and a draw in 2012. And so victory for 4th placed Zanaco who are one point behind Power it will be enough to see them sneak into top spot.
Zanaco coach Numba Mumamba has declared his charges ready for the match and that morale was high in camp.
“This is a very different encounter. Our team has been preparing very hard for this match, and going by the work we have put in so far, I am confident that we shall carry the day,” Mumamba said.
Buffaloes v Zesco
Zesco visit Buffaloes at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka in what will be the latter sides’ coach Wedson Nyirenda’s reunion with the team he led to their initial titles in 2007 and 2008.
But Zesco face 14th placed Buffaloes with a strong agenda of redeeming some pride after earning a tough draw at Nkana. This will be a tough match as Buffaloes will be hoping to bounce from the weekend 3-0 loss to Zanaco.
Victory for Zesco, on seven points from three games, could potentially see them move into second or even top spot depending on the other result at Sunset Stadium.
