THE International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has appointed two Zambian referees to officiate at the Zone Six Under-16 Championships to be held in Botswana from May 25 to 30.
Mweshi Munatamba and South Africa-based Suwilanji Siwila are the two Zambian international referees that have been picked to officiate at this year’s tournament slated for Gaborone.
This is according to a circular notice from the FIBA Africa Zone competitions manager Léa Kane made available by Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) general secretary Mwembe Kaona.
Kaona said the association was happy with the development as it showed the confidence the country was receiving internationally.
Zambia will be sending a male and female team of 12 players each to the tournament that has attracted 10 other countries. Botswana will host the tournament which will serve as qualifiers for the Africa Cup finals at the National Youth Centre.
