Nkana impress in cricket U-17 league

NKANA impressive run continued as the Kitwe side defeated Luanshya and Mufulira during the Zambia Cricket Union (ZCU) Under 17 Boys Copperbelt League triangular matches played at the weekend.
In their opening game played at Nkana Cricket Club, the hosts defeated Luanshya by six wickets.
Luanshya batting first were all out for 50 runs in 15 overs. Middle order batsman Danny Walawala, the only one to show resistance with seven not out. The best bowler for Nkana was Taonga Chibambe with three wickets while Moses Chabu, Shem Mukisi and Chola Longwa picked up two wickets apiece.
Nkana batting second raced to their victory target in 9.1 overs. Opener Langson Mukisi top scored with 11 runs.
In their second match of the day, Nkana defeated Mufulira by 19 runs. Nkana batting first posted a modest 74 for eight wickets down in their allotted 20 overs, Shem Mukisi hit an unbeaten 19 runs while the little master and man of the match Chola Longwa contributed 17 runs. Gabriel Kaoma and Micheal Kunda both got three wickets for Mufulira.
Mufulira batting second were all out for 55 runs in 11 overs, Mofya Mambwe top scored with 17 runs and Pick of the bowlers for Nkana was Chola Longwa who dismissed six Mufulira batsmen.
In Ndola, the hosts Ndola A suffered their second loss of the season after suffering a four wicket defeat to Nchanga in a game at Kanini Sports Club. Nchanga won the toss and opted to field first.
Ndola A were all out for 43 runs in 12 overs. Erick Ching’ombe scored 15 runs and Pick of the bowler for Nchanga were Francis Siyanda and Lumuno Mambo taking two wickets each.
Nchanga batting second reached their victory target in 11.2 overs with Ben Mubanga top scoring with 17 runs. The best bowlers for Ndola A were Wagson Ngulube and Patrick Kalasa with two wickets apiece.
Meanwhile in the Lusaka Boys’ League, Kabwata Dynamos beat Makeni Warriors by six wickets. Warriors won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 46 runs all out in 13.3 overs.
Other fixture saw Burma Stars defeat Woodlands Stars by eight wickets. Stars batting first posted 42 runs all out in 14.2 overs as Prince Banda top scored with 22 runs.
Patrick Mwelwa top scored with 25 runs as his team Burma Stars chased down their victory target.
