THIRD-PLACED Nkana beat Luanshya Royals development side by five wickets to cut AMSL XI lead at the summit of the Copperbelt Cricket Association (CCA) Senior League to just two points.
AMSL maintained their unbeaten run as they added another scalpel in Athenes XI to move to the summit of the CCA league.
The Chingola side leads the table despite having the same points, 14, with second positioned Luanshya Royals A while Athenes Xi are fourth on eight points while the Royals Development Side is fifth on six points.
The game played at the Nkana Cricket Club in Kitwe saw the hosts winning run continue in a match that saw the visitors win the toss and elected to bat first.
And in their first innings, Royals Development scored 141 runs all out in 30 overs with opener Joseph Mwewa top scoring with 43 runs while junior international James Chembo contributed 40 runs, Valentine Silungwe finished unbeaten on 12 runs.
Pick of the bowlers for Nkana were Sandeep Todkar and Hashmi Sayyed who both got three wickets while Parth Nayee got two wickets.
Nkana batting second reached their victory target in 24.2 overs as Ravi Kumar top scored with 27 runs, Baraji Durai scored 26 runs not out while Hashmi Sayyed hit 24 runs. In Mufulira, the host claimed all the points after Kitwe’s BML XI failed to show up for the scheduled league match. Mufulira are sixth on four points same as JAIDS XI and NML.
Nkana Developmental Side and Kansanshi are on two points while Kanini and Trident College are without a point.
