THE Zambia Table Tennis Association (ZTTA) will today host this year’s sixth national junior tournament where more than 80 youngsters will be battling it out in Lusaka.
ZTTA patron Haroon Ghumra said the tournament was being sponsored by Best Juices, Bookworld, Agogos and himself (Ghumra) who had contributed both material and financial support.
Ghumra said six categories would be contested for, four for the boys and the other two for the girls.
He named the categories as under-eight, 12, 14 and 18 for the boys and under-12 and 18 for the girls’ category.
“Since we have school holidays, we expect to have a full house. Actually, players may even surpass the 80 we are thinking of but the good thing is that all the top players will be there,” he said.
Some of the players expected to take part in the tournament are Simon Mwando, Jeconial Lamb, Zaninge Kaira Emmanuel Munga and Abraham Tembo.
Others are Stephen Sululu, Happson Munga, Wisdom Nyirenda, Chanda Muma, Sydney Sakala and Dismas Mutale.
In the girls’ category, there will be the likes of Latiffah Nalavwe, Mubanga Kunda, Harriet Tembo, Martha Banda, Janet Mwelwa and Monica Mutale.
