Team Branigan in memorable win

BRET Branigan led a team of four golfers to a memorable win of the President’s Putter tournament held at the Lusaka Golf Club at the weekend.
The Branigan-led team comprising Berti Serforntein, Ton Ryan and Rick Foden finished with a score of 53 points to take the first prize.
Finishing in second position on a count back after also accumulating 53 points was a Kelvin Phiri led team which also had Tiger Foden, Guy Frazer and Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) vice-president Jason Kazilimani.
Taking third place was a team led by Rajesh Naik with 54 points while Olivia Phiri, PK Patel, Towela Dodia, Fonz Lunat took fourth position with 55 points.
Lusaka Golf Club president Raj Sharma expressed excitement at the success of the tournament whose awards giving ceremony was moved from the club house to Hotel Inter-continental.
“This has been a great day for golf, we had a huge field during the day and an even bigger crowd at the awards ceremony. This is good and I would like to thank the sponsor for making this day possible,” Sharma said.
The tournament’s major sponsors were Allied Mobile with Microsoft and Hotel Inter-continental also coming on board.
Allied Mobile Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Africa Region François Van Essendon praised the players for making the tournament a success.
