By SANDRA MWILA –
MEANWOOD General Insurance has staked K500,000 insurance cover for this weekend’s Monze Rally which has attracted 30 drivers.
Meanwood Board chairperson, Eddie Samakai announced an insurance cover for drivers and officials under a Group Personal Accident policy for death and injuries during the rally period.
Samakai said the company rally cars were on third party cover and that this year they had increased from K50,000 to  K100,000 for one event and K200,000 from K100,000 for the two days.
Samakai said this during a Press briefing yesterday when he presented a K30,000 cheque to Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) as title sponsors of the Monze Rally, which is the sixth event on the national rally.
“Not only is there cash sponsorship of K30,000 for the rally but all the drivers and officials are insured under a Group Personal Accident policy  for death and injuries during the rally,” Samakai said.
Samakai also pledged to continue sponsoring the Monze Rally.
ZMSA vice-president Sam Chingambu thanked Meanwood for the sponsorship and commitment towards motor rally.
Chingambu also appealed to the corporate world to help defending champion Jassy Singh buy a new car after his Suburu Impreza N16 was involved in an accident during the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally recently.
Thirty drivers will be participating in the Monze Rally and these include Mohammed Essa, Muna Singh Jr, Zubair Essa, Miles Monge, Farook Ticklay and Yazdan Ticklay, among others.
