Religious Corner LogoWHENEVER I hear someone pronounce the words, ”back to sender”,  I am made to think many times not twice just what that means. For me personally, if I use those words it means I am joking lightly with the person concerned.
Why, because the words are packed with REVENGE, and for we Zambians, those words are not to be uttered for we are a Christian Nation and as such we are guided by the Holy and Eternal Word of GOD ALMIGHTY in the book of Mathew 7:12, “Therefore all things that you want others to do for you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” Here is what the Biblical scholars have termed as the ‘GOLDEN RULE of LIFE’. Let us now unpack a few lessons from the scripture reading.
In the first place, we need to understand that the words we just read were spoken by the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth Himself and they are beautiful words, wonderful words of life.
The Lord here gives us the pass word to victory in Christian living here on Earth where the ruler of this dark World is ruling those He was and is already judged or defeated ( John 16:11) by the Death of our Lord Jesus Crist who took the curse of sin from us and bore it on the Cross of Calvary.
Secondly, since the words are spoken by Christ, they are to be adhered by all who profess to be followers of Christ, the so called Christians. Now I would like to remind us that the scriptures explicitly show in the book of Acts that the term Christian was first called in Antioch because the followers of Christ behaved like Christ.
Jesus never will ask us to do that which He knows He can never do.
When he commands and commends and encourages us to do unto others what we would want them do unto us, He is in fact saying that’s what my life is all about. You and I can testify to that. If toady Jesus was to treat each one of us the way we have treated Him, unfaithful, disobedient, unloving, and proud, I don’t care type of attitude and the list goes on and on. Who would be alive today if Jesus decided to be unfaithful in the distribution of OXYGEN to planet Earth?
Who would survive if Jesus the Christ decided to have the I don’t care type of attitude we see so rampantly in the so called churches of Jesus Christ today?
Therefore brethren, dearly beloved of our Father who art in Heaven, it is high time that we woke up from our spiritual slumber (Romans 13:-14) and begin to do unto others exactly what we desire from them.
The context is that, when you do what you do, the result is that, what you do will happen to you as well. If I steal, someone will steal from me, if I sleep with another man’s wife or fiancé, or girlfriend, someone will sleep with my wife, or my fiancé, or my girlfriend, if I am unfaithful to my superiors, then my subordinates will be unfaithful to me.
Hence the only way to be happy and joyful is in fact to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
And this also means you and I must have a proper estimation of our value to love ourselves because we can only love others  as much as we love ourselves.
You and I must have a proper self-esteem to do this command in Mathew 7:12.
How shall I conclude this message? Well, allow me to take you to the book of Job 31:1-40, and make a summary of what Jesus is saying through Job. “Do unto others what you would want them to do unto you.”
Many of us are found wanting on this one, whether you are a pastor, or preacher or evangelist or elder, or deacon, praise singer, pianist or guitarist in the church of God we are wanting and God this morning is
reminded us of the weightier matters needed to make us perfect before God (Mathew 5:43-48), are tired of leaving a pretended Christian life?
Do you see in yourself how far you have been to God whom you profess to worship? Do not be discouraged, Jesus is still saying as long as it is called today and you hear His word, do not harden your heart ( Hebrews 4:7) but COME TO JESUS AND RECEIVE REST FOR YOUR SOUL( MATHEW
11:28-31).
