THE Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has this year participated in the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) with a view to promoting and attracting investment in priority sectors of Zambia.
According to a ZDA statement, the CIFIT was held in Xiamen, China, from September 8 to 11, 2015.
ZDA was represented at the Fair by its director general Patrick Chisanga, director of industry from the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry Tobias Mulimbika, the managing director Lusaka South MFEZ, Fortune Kamusaki and other officials.
The theme for this year’s CIFIT was ‘Introducing FDI’ and ‘Going Global’, which focuses on nationality and internationality, investment negotiation and investment policy promotion, coordinated development of national and regional economy, as well as economic and trade exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
The focus for ZDA and other stakeholders at this year’s CIFIT was to promote and attract investment into the priority sectors.
“Of particular interest is the energy sector and alternative energy investments that can be brought into Zambia to address challenges being experienced in the sector,” the Agency said.
CIFIT is currently China’s only international investment promotion event aimed at facilitating bilateral investment.
It’s also the largest global investment event approved by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry.
“CIFIT has the following major components: Investment and trade exhibition, the International Investment Forum (IIF), a series of seminars on hot investment issues, and investment project match-making symposia,” the ZDA stated.
CIFIT not only comprehensively showcases the investment environments, policies, projects and corporate products in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, but also attracts investment promotion agencies from more than 40 countries and regions.
It offers optimum opportunity for business people at home and abroad to get an overview on the investment climate in China and other countries.
It also provides them with a one-stop shopping service for multilateral investment cooperation from the widest range of investment projects and business partners.
In response to the adjustments of the world’s industrial structure and in view of the emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in international investment cooperation, CIFIT carries out China’s latest national development agenda, implementing strategies for coordinated development of regional economies, and promoting bilateral and multilateral economic exchanges and partnerships.
