From PERPETUAL SICHIKWENKWE  in New York –
FIRST Lady Esther Lungu has said Zambians living in the Diaspora are close to the heart of the First Family and, as such, they should not feel isolated even when they are far away from home.
Ms Lungu told Zambians living in New York that with God, there were no boundaries even if people lived far apart.
She was speaking when she addressed Zambians living in New York who gathered at the office of the Zambia Permanent Mission to the United Nations to meet President Edgar Lungu.
Ms Lungu told the more than 150 Zambians that although they felt to be far away from Zambia, they were close to her heart and that of the President.
She told them that they were always remembered by the First Family, and that was the reason why they found time to interact with them before returning to Zambia.
Mr Lungu was in New York to attend the 70th United Nations (UN) General Assembly (UNGA70) while the First Lady attended side events tackling issues of health and gender, among others.
She said that the gathering of many Zambians to welcome her and Mr Lungu symbolised “one Zambia, one nation and one world”.
“We are together, even as you are here and we are there. Let us remember each other in prayer,” she said.
Ms Lungu said she was aware that Zambia was going through a difficult times, but there was nothing impossible with God.
“I know we are going through difficult situations back home and you feel for the people back home, but with God, all things are possible. I, therefore, urge each and every one of us to commit ourselves to God and see what he has in store for Zambia,” she said.
Ms Lungu and the President also found time to engage with the children who were in attendance and took pictures with them.
