FIRST Lady Esther Lungu has described the five-day working tour of the Copperbelt accompanying President Lungu as successful, and she is planning a separate visit to the region to embark on women’s outreach programmes.
Ms Lungu took advantage of the working schedule of President Lungu to acquaint herself with various issues affecting women, hence her intentions to meet the women on a date to be announced.
“As a mother of the nation, I took advantage of the President’s trip to come and see my children who voted for us and made me the mother of the nation. I will come back for a women’s outreach programme,” Ms Lungu said.
She said this on departure for Lusaka, along with President Lungu, at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola yesterday.
Ms Lungu said despite the challenges that the country was going through, people should be patient and wait upon God as He was the provider of everything.
The First Lady said while the Government was doing everything possible to cushion the economic problems, citizens should remain united and live in love and harmony.
She thanked the people of the Copperbelt for the warm reception during the President’s visit.
“Thank you so much for welcoming me, as a mother. I had to come and see the people that made me to be the mother of this nation. Let us unite and love one another in order to move our nation forward,” Ms Lungu said.
