THE ENERGY Regulation Board (ERB) has assured motorists that it will continue to monitor fuel supplies around the country to ensure security of supply.
ERB public relations manager Kwali Mfuni said that following reports from Nakonde and Solwezi that there was a fuel shortage, the board carried out a survey that revealed that there was sufficient fuel supplies.
Ms Mfuni said in a statement that at national level daily stock updates indicated that there was adequate fuel in the country.
“ERB would like to assure motorists and stakeholders that Nakonde and Solwezi have sufficient fuel and that the board will continue to monitor the situation to ensure security of fuel supply,” he said.
She said the dealers in Nakonde had reported that fuel shortages experienced in the district were due to high demand from Tanzania in the wake of recent elections held in that country while in Solwezi the shortage was due to technical faults.
Ms Mfuni said in Nakonde, three sites, namely SGC, Suban and Zacks had petrol and diesel adding that Zacks filling station was expecting another consignment from the Mpika depot.
She said the situation in the two districts had normalised as all filling stations had sufficient supplies.
