By JULIUS PHIRI –
PATRIOTIC Front (PF) chairperson for mobilisation Charles Banda has called on party officials to work hard so as to give the party and President Edgar Lungu a convincing victory in next year’s elections.
Mr Banda called for extra efforts in party mobilisation when he addressed ward, constituency and district committees in Vubwi District in Eastern Province.
He said the people of Vubwi should be proud of the PF Government because it had given them the district status while it was also in the process of constructing a road to link to Chipata.
Mr Banda said the district status meant that the people would soon have a hospital and a secondary school because it was Government’s policy to build these facilities in all the districts.
Speaking at the same occasion, PF women’s national chairperson Esther Banda said Vubwi was previously a bush but was now being transformed into a modern town with facilities like electricity.

Jean Kapata, the PF chairperson for elections, disclosed that the voter registration exercise had been extended to March 2016.
She, however, said registration would only take place at civic centres.
She said registration officers would soon go to Vubwi, adding that the party should work harder to ensure that more of its members were registered.
In Mambwe District, the three senior PF officials advised their members to look out for hard-working people for possible adoption as parliamentary candidates.
They urged the members to liaise with the grassroots and pick people who would be accepted by the masses.
The delegation was also happy with the high number of people who had registered as voters.
