FORMER Napsa assistant coach, Dickson Ngwenya, who died on Tuesday after an illness will be put to rest tomorrow at Lusaka’s Memorial Park.
Napsa secretary Owen Chimpinde said the burial for the late Ngwenya, 52, has been set for Friday to also enable Napsa players and officials travel back from Chipata from their pre-season training to pay their last respects.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) technical director Honour Janza said the football family has lost a gallant man.
Janza, who worked with Ngwenya at Zesco United, described the late coach as an unsung hero who will be remembered for his dedication to the game.
“I worked with Ngwenya when he was my assistant at Zesco United. We have indeed lost an unsung hero, he had a passion for the game and believed in performance. The football family will miss him, we have been robbed of a gallant man that believed in hard work and dedication to the game,” Janza said.
Wedson Nyirenda said he was heartbroken to hear of Ngwenya’s death and that he had lost a dear brother.
“We have seen each other grow and pass through so much. To hear about your demise when I am a thousand miles away is something so heartbreaking. So long my brother, till we meet on the other side,” wrote Nyirenda on his Facebook page.
