By GWEN CHIPASULA and SANDRA MWILA –
CHIPOLOPOLO striker Evans Kangwa has backed midfielder Larry Bwalya to excel as he aims to clinch a contract with Israel side, Hapoel Ra’anana.
Kangwa, who is at Hapoel Ra’anana along with Zambia defender Emmanuel Mbola, said Bwalya, on a weeklong trial at the club has what it takes to earn a contract with the club.
He said in an interview from Israel yesterday that he has been training with Bwalya from the time the K-Stars player arrived at the club, adding that the player seems to be shaping up well.
Kangwa said Bwalya is a good player and that it was good that he was showing interest in training and that Hapoel Ra’anana would not be a bad team for him to join and kick-start his career.
“He has been here with us, he has what it takes and I can only wish him the very best as he finishes his two weeks trials here because he looks like a very good player, from the look of things, he is doing well,” he said.
Bwalya has been on loan at Power Dynamos from K-Stars and has featured for the Zambia Under-20 and 23 sides including the Chipolopolo.
Meanwhile, former Nkana goalkeeper Rabson Mucheleng’anga is training with Napsa Stars with a possibility of joining the ‘Pensioners’ for the 2016 soccer season.
Nchanga Rangers player Lawrence Musonda is also with Napsa in Chipata where the club has set up a two weeks pre-season camp in readiness for the 2016 MTN-FAZ Super League that kicks off next month.
Other players that are likely to trek to the Woodlands Stadium outfit this season include the Zanaco duo of Matthews Macha and Henry Banda.
Napsa chairperson Richie Nawa confirmed in an interview that the quartet are with Napsa in Chipata and are being assessed by the Wilson Mwale led technical bench.
“Yes, those players (Rabson, Lawrence, Henry and Mathews) are with our team in Chipata and are being assessed by our technical bench. We have not signed them yet, if they impress, then definitely they will be at Napsa this season,” Nawa said.
Nawa said Napsa had a shaky start and finish last season and that the onus will be on the players to perform well and finish better.
“Last season was bad for us, we had a shaky start and finish but this season we want to go flat out from the beginning. We have given the team the target of qualifying to play in the Barclays Cup and also finish in the top four in the league,” he said.
