By SANDRA MWILA –
TWO former Nchanga Rangers players have threatened to drag the MTN-FAZ Super League side to court if the club fails to pay them the K26,000 owed to them in unpaid salary and winning bonuses.
Midfielder Nawa Nawa claimed Rangers owed him unpaid salaries for two months for the 2014 season prior to the club loaning him to Zanaco while goalkeeper Jairous Mulenga alleged that he was owed five months’ wages.
But Rangers chairperson Yoram Kapai laughed out at the claims, saying the duo was no longer part of the club and wondered how they could be owed dues when, in Nawa’s case, he spent 2014 season on loan at Zanaco.
Kapi said in an interview that the only players that were owed money were their current Rangers players and that everything was being done to have their dues cleared.
“Those players are not being sincere with you, we don’t owe them any money… They are not Nchanga Rangers players as they are now with Forest. Nawa was on loan with Zanaco from 2014 so how can we owe him. The only players we owe are our current players.
“We are only remaining with one month salary arrears to clear, which is in the pipe line. We settled their October and November dues that were outstanding,” Kapai said.
However, Nawa said Rangers did not pay him his 2014 monthly salary for November and December and two winning bonuses. Nawa said he would be left with no option but to drag the club to court after failed attempts to get his money from the club.
“I want to take Nchanga to court, I have tried to resolve this issue with the club but they are not cooperating. They are playing hide-and-seek.
“If I go to the treasurer he tells me see this, this one. I have been moving from one person to another. They owe me two months’ salary and two winning bonuses before they loaned me to Zanaco,” he said.
Nawa wondered why the club was failing to clear his dues when they sold him to Forest.
“I want my money or I will take them to court. They owe me five months’ salary from August to December 2015. I have tried meeting them but they don’t want to comply,” Mulenga said.
