By KENNEDY MUPESENI –
THE Government is optimistic that more tourism investments will be realised due to the robust infrastructure development taking place in Muchinga Province.
Muchinga provincial Minister Mwimba Malama said the Government was doing everything possible to attract the much-needed tourism investment in the province.
Mr Malama expressed optimism that more investments would be realised because of the robust infrastructure development taking shape in the region.
“More investments are expected in the province this year, for the reason that we have resolved critical factors in attracting major investments in the tourism industry,” Mr Malama said.
He said in an interview from Chinsali that many roads leading to major tourist attractions had been worked on and that potential investors would have no excuse.
With the tarring of Mbala-Nakonde Road, the minister said investments in tourism facilities would be possible.
Mr Malama said investors should take advantage of the attractions and make significant investments in various tourism infrastructure such as hotels, holiday homes and camping facilities which were lacking.
“We have done most of the roads leading to waterfalls and game parks like Mfuwe National Park passing through Chieftainess Nabwalya, among others,” he said.
Mr Malama said almost all the districts in the province were endowed with tourism attractions, but lacked certain facilities such as hotels and camping structures.
“We are ready to work with the private sector to increase tourism arrivals in the area by putting up facilities in that tourists need facilities like camping and hotels which are lacking at the moment and Government alone cannot provide all of them,” he said.
Muchinga has a lot of waterfalls, most of which are named after rivers and streams of all sizes.
