By SANDRA MWILA –
CATHERINE Phiri finally left for the United States on Sunday night after she got  stuck in South Africa for two days ahead of the World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight gold title against champion Yazmine Rivas.
The WBC silver champion and her team were stuck in Johannesburg for two days following cancellation of flights into New York by South African Airways due to bad weather.
“I can confirm that we are on the first flight to New York after receiving clearance that the snow is now normal,” Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) manager Christopher Malunga said from South Africa.
Meanwhile, boxing analyst Simon Mwale has tipped Catherine to win the fight and has urged the boxer to go for a knockout.
“Catherine is a good boxer and she is capable of winning the fight, she should ensure that she stops the fight and not let it be determined on points, that way it is tricky,” he said.
Mwale said Catherine and her coach should be strategic and tactical to win the fight because Rivas has the experience though she rarely knocks out her opponents, something which the Zambian should maximise on.
