A THIRTY-FIVE –YEAR-OLD man has dragged his wife to court for divorce on grounds that she does not know how to maintain a home or utilise money meant for the family.
This is in a matter in which Mwangala Chilulu of Jack Township sued his wife, Bridget Mweemba,35, of the same location for misusing money meant for groceries.
Chilulu told the court that his wife spent the money he gave her on clothes and other irrelevant things such as facial make ups.
“My wife always spends my money on useless things such as face powder, make up, I am tired of this behaviour and I think it’s too much for that reason I cannot live with her,” he said.
Chilulu told the court that his wife did not take care of the children because whenever he knocked off from work, he finds the children locked outside the house.
“My wife is too mobile, I usually find my two-year-old child crying outside as she leaves our children at the neighbour’s house often,” he said.
Chilulu said whenever he confronted his wife, she insulted him.
“When I advise my wife not to buy face powder from money meant for food, she tells me that she will find a man to satisfy her, so, I think its best she goes to that man now as I am tired of her behaviour,” he said
In defence, Mweemba said her husband had found another woman where he spent several nights whenever he disappeared from their matrimonial house for a week.
Mweemba said her husband was stingy with his money and only gave her K300 to cater for school fees and food.
“Surely, how can K300 cater for school fees and food for the whole month, this man should just say that he wants to marry another woman unlike creating stories in court,” she said.
In passing judgment magistrate Pauline Newa sitting with magistrate Lewis Mumba granted the couple divorce and ordered the duo to share all the property they had worked for together.
