By SAM PHIRI –
SHIWANG’ANDU District Commissioner Evelyn Kangwa has praised Government for the facelift recorded in the area within three years.
Ms Kangwa said the infrastructure development being rolled out in Shiwang’andu District would soon attract massive investment in the area, considering that the district was close to a busy road.
A total sum of K42 million has been set aside for the Shiwang’andu infrastructure development project under the Ministry of Works and Supply.
“Civil servants have been renting grass-thatched houses in these villages but with the PF Government initiative of bringing development to rural areas, workers will be highly motivated, especially after the completion of the 33 housing units which are almost completed,” she said.
She said with the new face and adequate electricity in Shiwang’andu, economic boom was certain and invited investors to the area.

Ms Kangwa was speaking when works and Supply Deputy Minister Mutaba Mwali inspected infrastructure projects in Shiwang’andu District during his tour of Muchinga, Northern, Luapula and Copperbelt provinces.
Meanwhile, Dr Mwali was impressed with works being done on the Isoka-Muyombe-Chama Road via Mafinga District by the new contractor China Civil Engineering.
Dr Mwali said cutting the Chilumbi mountains stretch that was the major obstacle of constructing the road was impressive.
“The works are very encouraging so far, although the contractor China Civil engineering should consider making proper detours to enable motor vehicles pass,” he said.
Dr Mwali also urged Nyola Investment Contractors to speed up works on 20 low-cost houses for civil servants in Mafinga District of Muchinga Province to avoid revocation of the contract.
