By FELIX MALUNGA –

INFORMATION and Broadcasting Minister, Chishimba Kambwili has asked Zambians to give the Patriotic Front (PF) another five-year mandate in August for the sake of political stability in the country.
Mr Kambwili said changing governments every five years will only lead to political instability and scare away potential investors who can be partners in national development.
Addressing a public rally in Chifubu Township in Ndola at the weekend, Mr Kambwili said Zambians had seen unprecedented development during the PF’s four years in office, hence the need to give President Edgar Lungu a fresh mandate to continue guiding the nation to prosperity.
He said currently there were more than 13 power generation projects, which would generate more than 4,521 megawatts once completed, thereby mitigating the power deficit the country was facing and also export the excess within the region.
Mr Kambwili said the power problem was not exclusively a Zambian one, but was one that was affecting many countries in Africa due to changing weather patterns.
He said the PF had constructed several hospitals and roads in just four years and that more infrastructure development projects were still underway.
Copperbelt PF mobilising chairperson, Joe Malanji said policy implementation should not be left to President Lungu, ministers, permanent secretaries and other senior Government officials but every Zambian needed to participate.
Mr Malanji said the onus was on every Zambian to make the country investor-friendly.
He, however, took a swipe at some opposition politicians who made careless statements, which threatened foreign and local investors.
Mr Malanji said the current economic downturn was not just a Zambian problem, but a global one and that even top-notch African nations like Nigeria had to recall their budget to Parliament after the fall in crude oil prices.
He appealed to the youths and the general populace against getting excited with some people forming political parties, that could not even marshal 10,000 votes across the nation, but spent time issuing disparaging remarks against President Lungu, who had been mandated by Zambians to govern the country.
“I got 14,000 votes in Kwacha Constituency (Kitwe) in the 2011 elections, but this is what some presidents failed to marshal across Zambia during the 2015 Presidential Elections,” Mr Malanji, who had contested parliamentary elections in 2011, said.
Copperbelt PF chairperson, Steven Kainga, said the 2016 campaign was for President Lungu who was already the party’s candidate while other party members should wait for their adoptions.
The rally was also attended by provincial women’s chairperson, Hildah Kawesha, Copperbelt PF secretary Amon Chisenga, Chifubu Member of Parliament, Esther Kawandami and her Kabushi counterpart, Dorothy Kazunga.
Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) Copperbelt Youth chairperson, Cephas Musonda and others defected to the ruling PF at the Chifubu rally.
