BISHOP Caddie Ng’ambi of Jesus Worship Center International Church has accused a Chingola business executive of encroaching on his property and harassment of orphans accommodated at the orphanage.
Bishop Ng’ambi is aggrieved that the named business executive had even commenced clearing some portion of the land.
He said the land belonged to him as it was legally offered to him by the Chingola Municipal Council.
“The land belongs to me. I was given by the council to construct an orphanage. I have done so and I have about 95 orphans that I am taking care of,” he said.
Bishop Ng’ambi said he was shocked that at the weekend, some people came to the orphanage trying to clear the land in preparation for construction.
He said men who were sent to prepare the land for construction caused confusion as they resisted when they were told to stop working.
‘‘When I saw ten men working and preparing the land for construction, I stopped them and went to the Council to report the matter as they also claimed they had title deeds. I was surprised that the local authority did not give me proper information concerning the land and why they had issued another title deed to another person when I am the owner,’’ Bishop Ng’ambi said.
He also reported the matter to Chingola District Commissioner Mary Chibesa who went to see the land in question.
Ms Chibesa advised residents and the the Council to stop constructing on land before surveyors gave proper demarcations.
