MTNBy NATASHA KANA –

MTN Zambia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bongo Hive aimed at supporting application and software developers in the country.
Bongo Hive is the first technology and innovation hub in Zambia built on an entrepreneurship hub concept.
MTN chief executive officer Charles Molapisi said the support was aimed at stimulating interest in technology advancements among the youth and exposing them to an economic platform.
Mr Molapisi said the company observed that many youths were incapacitated by the lack of resource support, both infrastructural and monetary required in developing and modelling ideas to aid economic breakthrough.
He was speaking at the signing ceremony of the MoU with Bongo Hive on the App development initiative in Lusaka.
“This initiative will stimulate interest in technology advancements among the youths, while exposing them to an economic platform.
Many of our youths have great ideas and abilities but are limited by the lack of resource support, both infrastructure and monetary required in developing and modelling ideas to aid economic breakthrough,” he said.
He said the youth dependency ratio was estimated at over 90 per cent hence the sponsorship would provide an enabling environment in which developers would be  able to conceptualise and bring to life applications that would not only make lives better,  but are also money making ventures for youths.
