1,000 jobs created in Chama

GOVERNMENT has said more than 1,000 jobs have been created in Chama District of Muchinga Province because of massive infrastructure developments going on in the area.
Chama District Commissioner Josphat Lombe said in Chipata yesterday that some youths have been employed because of the developments going on in the district.
Mr Lombe said that there were a number of developmental projects going on since the inception of Patriotic Front(PF) Government which in turn had created employment for the youths.
The DC said construction of roads, schools and hospitals were among infrastructure developments that had created employment.
“More than 1,000 jobs have been created in the construction sector which has seen some youth being employed in the district. This is a plus for  the Government,”he said.
Mr Lombe said he was happy that Chama had rcorded a lot of developments.
He explained that the construction of new Chama District Hospital was almost complete assuring that within two months, works would be completed and ready for commissioning.
He said Chama-Matumbo Road had brought excitement among the residents of Chama stating that it would boost economic activities of the district.
He said the contractor who was constructing the Chama-Matumbo Road had completed the works.
Mr Lombe said he was happy that soon Government would tar the Chama-Muyombe and Chama-Lundazi roads respectively.
He also said the people of Chama were currently enjoying water from 225 boreholes which were in various communities of the district.
He said that recently, the German Government sunk 50  boreholes in Chief Chifunda’s area South of Chama District.
He said this meant that the issue of development was going in the right direction in Chama district.
Mr Lombe said he was also elated that the district would have a bank after the on-going construction of National Savings and Credit Bank (NATSAVE) had been completed.
