PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has urged Zambians to use the spirit of ‘One Zambia One Nation’ motto to rally behind the Chipolopolo as they push for qualification to the Gabon 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
The President called on Zambians to avoid violence but use occasions like football matches to come together.
He said this on arrival at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola when he addressed scores of people that gathered to welcome before heading to the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to cheer the Chipolopolo who drew 1-all against Congo Brazzaville.
In the same vein, the President informed the people that gathered that entry to the stadium was free as the Government would pay for them.
The announcement was met with jubilation and the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium was packed to the rafters.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga expressed confidence that the Chipolopolo will beat Congo Brazzaville in the return leg to get the campaign back on track.
Kamanga said in an interview after the match that a draw was not a bad result but that the team could have done better.
The new FAZ boss said he hopes the technical bench can rectify the mistakes observed in the match and do better in Brazzaville.
“The game was tough, a draw  is not a bad result hope mistakes can be rectified going into the return leg. I am confident that we will turn the tables in Congo and get three points,” he said.
Kamanga said the players are professionals and will put the draw behind them and focus on a win.
“These are professional players they will put their draw behind and focus on a win. This is just the first half and I am not disappointed, we can do better in the return leg,” he said.
