THE Water Resource Management Authority (WARMA) has urged business houses and members of the public intending to drill boreholes to always obtain authorisation permits.
WARMA senior environmental and water quality officer Frank Nyoni said ground and surface water was being regulated and that it was a requirement for those involved in commercial use of water to get respective permits from WARMA.
WARMA has been mandated to regulate ground and surface water following the Water Resource Management Act No. 21 of 2011.
Mr Nyoni, who was speaking in Choma during the World Water Day commemoration, said in view of the Act, all companies involved in water engineering were required to get permits from WARMA.
“Anyone drilling a borehole whether domestic or commercial needs to get permits from WARMA,” he said.
