THE Zambia junior golf national team dropped to eighth position at the All Africa Junior Golf Challenge in Tunisia after a poor performance on day three of the tournament on Thursday.
Zambia, who entered the day on seventh position, failed to handle the pressure and slumped to eighth position to sit one place above the bottom which was occupied by Nigeria.
The Zambia team comprising three new players carded a disappointing combined total of 246, three shots more than what they managed a day before.
After three days of golf, Zambia now has a total 515.
Only captain of the team Patrick Mwendapole Junior was retained while three others, who include Mweemba Malambo, Sitali Nawa and Lukas Muyunda, are taking part for the first time.
Defending champions South Africa look set to retain the title as they remained on top with an impressive combined total of 215 and overall score of 440, while Zimbabwe are second with an overall score of 455. On third position is Morocco with 474 points overall.
Tunisia and Kenya are fourth and fifth with overall scores of 485 and 488, respectively, followed by Egypt and Uganda on sixth and seventh, in that order.
By Press time the teams were in action for day four of the tournament.
