By MILDRED KATONGO  –

THE Lamba people of Masaiti District have vowed to fully support and vote for President Edgar Lungu in this year’s general elections.
Chief Nkambo’s deputy secretary Dexter Chipeso said the Lambas were happy with the developmental projects that the Patriotic Front (PF) Government had embarked on in the area, and that they would vote for Mr Lungu.
Mr Chipeso said the Head of State had a heart for the Lambas as he did not discriminate against them, but had carried on with the vision of taking development to the district.
He said it was unfortunate that some people calling themselves ‘real Lambas’ like former member of Parliament (MP) Gladys Lundwe had disowned the President by portraying him in negative tones.
Mr Chipeso said Ms Lundwe had never been a spokesperson for the Lambas for her to tell the people of Zambia that they were bitter with the Head of State.
“We are aware that there are two camps in the Lamba land where others are calling themselves real Lambas when in fact not.
“As Lambas of the soil, we will give President Lungu a vote so that he completes the work he has started in our area,” he said.
Mr Chipeso said the President should continue with all the projects that he had embarked on.
He said the Head of State had been in office for only 14 months and upheld the developmental projects left by the late President Michael Sata.
Mr Chipeso also urged people to stop dragging traditional leaders into politics.
He said chiefs played an important role of uniting the people,  and would support the Government of the day.
Mr Chipeso appealed to the people in the area to learn to tell the truth on the status of the Lamba people.
